Certification Introduction
In order to improve the energy efficiency of electrical equipment and products in various industries (residential, commercial and industrial), and enhance significant economic and environmental benefits, Australia and New Zealand issued the Greenhouse and Energy Lower Standards Regulations (Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Bill 2012, referred to as GEMS), effective October 1, 2012. The new GEMS regulations not only cover the main policies of the past: Mandatory Lower Energy Performance Standard (MEPS), Energy Efficiency Labeling (ERLS) and Equipment Energy Efficiency Program (E3), and expand energy efficiency to reduce greenhouses The scope of gas emission and energy efficiency improvement guides companies and consumers to make better choices from the perspective of lower costs throughout the product life cycle.
From October 1, 2012, Australia and New Zealand will use the energy efficiency certification GEMS certification to replace the previous Australian energy efficiency MEPS certification. GEMS certification is a compulsory certification. Products under control must have GEMS certification before they can be sold in the market, and the applicant must be a company registered in Australia.

The second step is to submit the test report and other materials for GEMS registration. After the materials are reviewed and approved, the GEMS certification will be obtained. The new GEMS regulations mainly have new requirements for registration. Applicants cannot choose a single state for registration, but are unified to the Australian Regulator for registration, and according to the product category, the registration period is 5 years.
