Heavy | The EU officially revises twelve mercury exemption clauses of the RoHS Directive!

On February 24, 2022, the European Commission published 12 directives in its Official Journal:

(EU) 2022/274, (EU) 2022/275,

(EU) 2022/276, (EU) 2022/277,

(EU) 2022/2778, (EU) 2022/279,

(EU) 2022/280, (EU) 2022/281,

(EU) 2022/282, (EU) 2022/283,

(EU) 2022/284, and (EU) 2022/287.

The Annex III of the RoHS Directive has been revised and updated in a large area. This update is mainly aimed at various conventional or special-purpose lamps or lamps.


In (EU) 2022/274, 3, 3(a), 3(b) and 3(c) of Annex III of the RoHS Directive were replaced by the following exemptions:

What is a RoHS exemption clause?

Exemption clauses are an important part of the EU RoHS Directive. Before the exemption clause expires, a company or industry organization can apply to the European Commission for an extension of the exemption validity period. The European Commission shall evaluate the received extension application and decide whether to extend or amend the exemption clause.
