GB 31604.8-2021 "National Food Safety Standard Determination of Total Migration of Food Contact Materials and Products" will be officially implemented from March 7, 2022, all replacing GB 31604.8-2016.
The GB 31604.8-2021 standard is suitable for the determination of the total migration of food contact materials and products in water-based food simulants, chemical substitute solvents, and olive oil, and can meet the testing requirements of the total migration index in the GB 4806 series of product standards. Detection principle
Determination of the total migration amount of food contact materials and products in olive oil, take the sample as the test object, and determine the total amount of non-volatile substances in the mass lost before and after the migration test. The moisture content of the sample and the content of volatile substances have an impact on the test results. Therefore, the determination of the total migration should strictly follow the test process.

1. This standard has special provisions on the migration test conditions of reusable products. Special attention should be paid before testing, and it is necessary to confirm whether the sample is a reusable product.
2. For samples with a large amount of olive oil adsorption, ether can be used for multiple extractions until the olive oil is completely extracted, or the adsorbed olive oil can be extracted by the dissolution/precipitation method.
3. Due to the limitations of detection technology, the method is not suitable for the following samples:
*When determining suitability, the amount of substances that interfere with the accurate quantification of olive oil exceeds 2 mg/dm2
*Unable to obtain accurate mass moisture sensitive samples
*Sample with selective adsorption of olive oil components
