The directive was promulgated in 2003 and implemented in 2006. It restricts the use of six types of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, including lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers. Following the EU RoHS, China, South Korea, Japan, California, Norway, India, etc. have also issued similar regulations or standards for electrical and electronic products.
